Grid
The patterns of tapestries are grids. Sometimes they are represented in color, sometimes in black and white. When in black and white the squares are filled with symbols. Symbols can be associated with colours.
Because of the manual technique, of the material and the tools used to realize it, the simplification of the analogical image through its transcription into a limited number of colours lead to the creation of an other image. Enlarging a detail with a scanner unveiled the shades that had been recreated in the stroke, the shapes and the colours.
