Reticulation
I have digitised the silver negative of the original photograph. I faked the controlled distortion and reduction of the emulsion designed for a film roll by applying a « reticulation » filter on the picture. Its darkened areas thus seem thicker, while its clearer areas seem slightly grained. This manipulation increases the original picture’s granularity, and picks up the tiny silver aggregates the silver picture is made of.
The digital image thus obtained was painted face on the computer screen.
